The Elite category was first out of the blocks at 6:30am, tearing up the first 13km before hitting a 200m climb up to the ridge top where things started to hot up. Following in their respective categories were the remainder of the 100km field, the last group of riders leaving St. Albans at 7:00am. As the day warmed up, so did the atmosphere with competitors commenting on the great vibe out on the course with lots of encouragement and riders assisting one another with bike repairs.
