Teams Survivorman and Endurance Junkies Accounted For!
Doug Doyle / 31.05.2006

Team Survivorman had trekked through the night making movement towards CP3/TA1 but it never seemed to appear to them. Rain was falling heavily and I can only presume they were exhausted, wet and cold. They radioed race HQ this morning at 8:00am to give an update of their status, then used their GPS to find their coordinates. Ironically, they were less than 1.3km’s from CP3/TA2 when they called in.
Survivorman was meters short of an east/west decommissioned logging road that would have lead them west to Beauty Lake Road. A five minute jaunt north along this active logging road and they would have been in the welcoming arms of their worried support crew.
I was advised by race staff that Tanya Martin was ailing and is being provided medical treatment at the CP.
Team Survivorman did not bring their course instructions with them and were unaware teams were mandated to radio the race organizers if still in the field short of CP3/TA1 and before 10:00om May 30, 2006.
The Endurance Junkies are now at CP3/TA1 but I do not have any other information on them. Like Team Survivorman, I am sure they are relieved to have made it out of the dense, blackfly infested bush and can rest their tired legs.
What remains to be seen is whether Team Survivorman or Team Endurance Junkies continue to race beyond CP3/TA1 and whether they will be able to meet the cutoff at CP8/TA3 as of 2:00am June 1, 2006.
