As the race continues, we found six teams following Team SOLE and Team Eastern Mountain Sports all bunched up at Transition Area #1 on the put in for the paddling leg. Team Enduraventure/Maplewood left in third place on the Lake Michigan paddle at 11:24pm last night. They were quickly followed by WEDALI, Absolute Endo/NMET, Checkpoint Zero, and WeCeFAR/E-CAP’s. The last team in this pack leaving before midnight Tuesday was Blue Bayou Monsters at 11:57pm. Enduraventure paddled to CP5 at the Elk Rapids portage holding their third place lead followed directly by WeCeFAR and Absolute Endo. WeCeFAR jumped ahead four positions during the paddling leg. In the back of the pack was WEDALI, whose fourth place spot had jumped back to seventh, and Blue Bayou Monsters who held strong in eighth place.

Following the portage from Lake Michigan, teams continued to paddle southeast down Elk Lake then north through Torch River into Rapid City, the end of the first paddle section. Teams had to trek the last half-mile because they were paddling upstream and the river was moving too fast. They were not allowed to leave the river because both sides of the shore were private property. At 6:16am, WeCeFAR was the first team off the river after EMS. Twelve minutes later, Enduraventure exited the river heading towards the Transition Area in fourth place. Absolute Endo was nipping on their heels trekking up the river. Checkpoint Zero was the last team to arrive at TA#2 before 7:00am. Teams seemed to have a quick transition and all but Checkpoint Zero made it onto the bike leg before 7:00am. Checkpoint Zero, Blue Bayou Monsters, and WEDALI arrived at TA#2 after 7:15am.See All Event Posts
