Team SOLE left Checkpoint #23 last night at 10:35pm in first place. They had a considerable lead with Eastern Mountain Sports arriving into CP23 at 1:02am. Teams paddled at night to Transition Area #6 for the bike pick-up. Teams will bike to CP25 for the first ropes section. Team SOLE pulled into TA6 at 3:04am and proceeded to keep their lead with a fast transition. This biking leg was basically a flat ride to the ropes course, a Tyrolean Traverse over a large sinkhole. Over the year, people have used this sinkhole as a dump. It is now protected by the Michigan Karsh Conservancy. From here, teams will send down one member into the sinkhole to pull garbage out. This was the arrangement made with the Michigan Karst Conservancy and Infiterra Sports. A special thanks to Aubrey Golden of the Karst Conservancy for providing a access to this protected piece of land. Another special thanks to Planet Rock who set up the Tyrolean Traverse for the racers and participants to enjoy.
During the transition, Enduraventure was passing through CP23 on the river at 3:22am. Team SOLE pulled out of TA6 at 3:31am making their complete transition time just under thirty minuntes. They arrived at the Tyrolean Traverse sinkhole at 4:50am. Cyril Jay-Rayon rappelled into the sinkhole and pulled a few pieces of trash to the outer rim for easy disposal access. Team SOLE left the first ropes section in just over twenty minutes at 5:12am and headed towards the final rope section, a rappel and ascent over another sinkhole further East down the road.See All Event Posts
