X-adventure Raid World Cup 2006
Qualification to be Settled in Savoy
10.07.2006

41 teams are set to compete in the final qualifying stage of the X-adventure The Raid World Cup circuit in the mountains of the Savoy region of France this coming weekend. For some the target is obvious: to pick up as many points as possible in a spirited, last ditch attempt to assure a place on the starting line for The Raid World Championship 2006.After the Australian and American stages, it is now time for the “Old-World to play host to some of the world’s top adventure-racing squads. All present will be looking to make their passage through the French Alps as profitable as possible, which means finishing high in the rankings and grabbing the maximum number of points in their respective geographical zones. And the prize of qualification for the 3rd edition of The Raid World Championship, scheduled for this coming September in Quebec, will act as a spur.
For European teams “it’s make or break time. A passable result for any of the following; Saab Salomon (GBR), Les Arcs Quechua (FRA), Ertips (FRA), Adidas Natventure (GER) and Speleo Salomon (POL), and their qualification is almost assured. However, some strong teams like Eafit.com (FRA) will be staking everything on this one race and trying to force a way into the 10 available qualification positions. It’s just as tight in the North European Zone (Scandinavia), where world-class contenders like Lundhags Adventure and team Finland are making this their one attempt to qualify.
In the North American Zone Nike and Spyder look to be assured of their places in Canada, and neither is racing in the Alps. But with the Raid World Championship in their home country two Canadian teams, Supplierpipeline and Saguenay/Lake Saint Jean are coming to race for the first time in the French Alps and could well force their way into the top 6 in their zone. (Supplierpipeline have just finished a close 4th at Primal Quest.)See All Event Posts
