7 Cerros Medellin Adventure Race
No penalty for FINLAND, who lead by 37 minutes
Jacqueline Windh / 15.10.2006

It was another hard day, with many tough ascents on bike. FINLAND arrived first at the finish again. A rumour that I had heard about FINLAND receiving a penalty for exchanging a bike en route turned out to be completely false. At the finish line on Day 2, Petri had only ASKED Director Jorge Llanno if he could exchange his bike - but he had not actually done it.SOLE (USA) had a great day, arriving only 15 minutes after FINLAND, with Colombian teams SAFETY TREK NATIVOS and BOSI coming in only minutes later, and the French INTER SPORT nearly a half-hour behind.
Times totalled for days 1 and 2 (and differences)are (but note possible penalties***, see next page):
FINLAND (FIN) 14:49:24
SAFETY TREK NATIVOS (COL) 15:26:58 (00:37:34)***
SOLE (USA) 16:03:13 (01:13:49)
BOSI (COL) 16:18:49 (01:29:25)***
INTER SPORT (FRA) 16:22:16 (01:32:52)
ABARTH-TEVA (ESP) 16:59:53 02:10:29
RIOS Y CANOAS (COL) 17:14:25 (02:25:01)
3 STEP IT (FIN) 17:14:25 (02:25:01)
HALTI (SWE) 18:28:02 (03:38:38)
SAFERBO TRAXION (COL) 18:42:52 (03:53:28)
CORRE CAMINOS (COL) 18:52:00 (04:02:36)
Colombia's top two teams, SAFETY TREK NATIVOS and BOSI, are racing really well - keeping up with some of the best teams in the world. However, there is a possibility that they each may be facing a penalty of half an hour for erros made in orientation on Day 1. Jorge has not had time to review their orientation cards to verify this, but we should hear some news about that very soon.
This would be good news for both INTER SPORT (FRA) and SOLE (USA), who have little hope of catching FINLAND in todáys shorter race (expected 6-7 hours), but who are battling the Colombians for places on the podium. INTER SPORT had bike problems and problems with cramping yesterday, but SOLE are doing great and looking strong.
I will update this as soon as I know more.See All Event Posts
