7 Cerros Medellin Adventure Race
Some world-class Colombian teams
Jacqueline Windh / 18.10.2006

Colombian teams have given an impressive performance here. SAFETY TREK NATIVOS chased leader FINLAND hard for the first two days of the race – arriving home in 2nd place (20 minutes difference) on Day 1 and third place (17 minutes difference) on Day 2.
On day 3, they put on the jets and rolled into the finish line first, fifteen or so minutes ahead of FINLAND. They, along with ABARTH-TEVA (ESP), who barely overtook FINLAND in the final stretch of Day 3, are the only teams to have beaten FINLAND in any stage of this race. FINLAND even dominated in the short (6 minute) "Prologue" relay race.
Team SAFETY TREK NATIVOS seems to have come out of nowhere – the team just appeared two weeks ago. However, they actually have a long history of racing in Colombia and internationally, as part of BOSI COLOMBIA. Mainly due to changes in who the sponsors are, Colombia's international team BOSI COLOMBIA split into two: SAFETY TREK NATIVOS, and BOSI (national team).
The split is so recent that the competitors are not yet even certain how this will work out for the international races – if members of NATIVOS will still be able to race on BOSI COLOMBIA. I guess we will all find out soon, because BOSI COLOMBIA will be at Ecomotion Pro, just a few weeks away.
FINLAND's Captain Petri Forsman said of NATIVOS at the closing ceremony, "Today, we have seen a really great Colombian team." The eight racers on both of these teams (along with 7 Cerros MedellÃn Race Directors Jorge Diego Llano and Luisa Fernanda RÃos, who race on BOSI COLOMBIA) have shown the world that Colombia has some world-class athletes. We sure hope to see more of them at international competitions.
Other notable Colombian teams that finished in the top ten are: RIOS Y CANOAS, CORRECAMINOS ZERIE, and SAFERBO TRAXION.
