Co-race director and Infiterra Sports partner Luke Osborn made the announcement, “St. Ignace gives our racers the best venue to start off this epic event. It is in close proximity to lower Michigan and is only two to four hours from various airports which will make traveling easier for out of state racers. We should have the best of both worlds by allowing racers to experience the remote wilderness of the Upper Peninsula well still keeping the race location accessible,� noted Osborn.St. Ignace has a rich Native American history and it is the third oldest continuous city in the US. It was once the bustling hub of 17th century fur trade. Now St. Ignace is the gateway to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and will offer racers a stunning backdrop of the beautiful Mackinac Straits and the Mighty Mackinac Bridge. Today it still bears the pristine waters and remote wilderness that first attracted fur traders and explorers to the area hundreds of years ago.
The Quality Inn of St. Ignace will be the headquarters for the event. “We’re really excited to have been chosen as the race headquarters. St. Ignace and the Eastern Upper Peninsula will provide a splendid playground for this epic event,� commented Glen King, General Manager.
