In 2 Adventure / 07.12.2006

With a $5,500 cash prize purse and entry into the Teva Mountain Games in Vail, Colorado at stake it was always going to be a challenging event. And as Sunday morning dawned on the beautiful Noosa River, the first twist of the day was revealed. Teams were to compete in a challenge before the race, to determine their position on the starting grid. The infamous Beep Test, run by personal trainers, Race Elements is a test of Strength, Speed & Stamina, and teams battled it out for a place on the first start. Linton Burns from team ICCy was the \'Last Man standing\' and won a pair of Teva X1C\'s for an outstanding win in the challenge! With the race starting grid determined it was on the buses to the secret start location. For the orienteering leg 3 compulsory checkpoints were given to teams. At each of these compulsory CP\'s a further 2 check point locations were revealed. Teams collected 8 of the 9 check points before arriving at TA 1.
At TA 1, the Teva \'Go Do Be\' Challenge tested teams mental, physical, strategic & team work skills. Teams were tasked with completing 4 challenges, and were offered the option to split up. But once again, strategy played a part with some teams choosing to stay together for some challenges and split for others.
In Monkey Militia teams had to run the gauntlet of the Laser Skirmish Course to rescue a Teva Monkey from the Assault course and arrive in the drop zone with at least one life in tact. With Friendly Fire and rogue snipers, teams who completed this challenge as a team & worked together, made it through this one much faster than those that worked alone.
