Red Yeti Midnight Assault back in Victoria

The stage was set for another fantastic race as Red Yeti travelled to Victoria for the second time this year in a race that had teams travelling over 200 km in 8 stages. Forty competitors started their journey just North of Yarram in the stunning Gippsland region.
Excellent weather through the first bike, trek and kayak stages helped push teams forward before an afternoon change brought heavy, head-on winds just in time to slam every team on their second kayak stage. To avoid the heartache of being pushed backwards, most teams opted for a strenuously long portage along the windswept shoreline.

Despite the blustery conditions, teams persevered and surged forward in an impressive effort to meet the cut-off for the Advanced Course at Transition Area 5. With the water and wind behind them, teams hit the bikes and headed into the dense temperate rainforest on an unforgettable bike ride finishing in the dark at a waterfall transition area.
