Now they\'ve had time to recover some of the teams have spoken about the brutal conditions during Tuesday night, and the temperature they had to cope with.

Daniel Aubé from the Atmosphere Ondeo team, who weights in at 190 pounds, reported that the wind was so strong that he could not keep his feet on the ground. With the thermometer close to -30 degrees Celsius and squalls at 130 km/hour, the temperature felt was -56 degrees Celsius.

Team Subaru Canada had to crawl on the ground to keep on going. For a few hours they had to run during lulls in the storm and hold on to trees when the wind got up again. Kurt Gibson, a member of the team born in Manitoba said: \"I never experienced a wind chill like that.\"

Team Ad Opt Technologies/Le Yéti/Novadry and Team Passion said that ice was flying off the ground, hitting them, ripping their clothes and pushing them over.

For a while a race that was already extremely difficult became impossible. Environment Canada confirmed that record breaking lows were experienced that night and it\'s remarkable so many teams kept themselves safe and kept going.See All Event Posts
