Not surprisingly the two warhorses of adventure racing in SE QLD (and Australia really), teams Mountain Designs and ARea51 top the list in 1st and 2nd respectively. These two teams were head and shoulders above their competition last year with ARea51 finishing as champions and Mountain Designs a close second. This year however Mountain Designs have taken an early the lead. They have made a consistent start to the season with two second placings. Strong performances and consistent results will bring home the bacon and team Mountain Designs is well capable of standing on top of the podium at the end of the year. Their arch rivals though, team Area51, will fight them to the end. ARea51 had a confident start to the season with a narrow win the first round. However, they gave their fans a scare with a 4th place in round 2. Stay tuned for the showdown between these two teams in Round 3! The Gap Cycles sponsored team Mind The Gap had an outstanding race in the second round convincingly winning amongst strong competition. The much needed bonus points from the win has moved them into 3rd place on the points table - a sigh of relief after a lack luster 14th place in Round 1! They will need to improve their consistency throughout the season though to stay in the top three. Having said that, they are definitely a team to keep an eye on. Torre Adventure and Red Bull round out the front runners in 4th and 5th place respectively. Torre Adventure took out third place in the championships last year and have been working hard in the off season hoping to break into first or second place. They are going to have to work a little harder as the season progresses with two 5th placings...
