Bimbache Extrem 2007 - Spain, Andalucia
Speedy Surprise
Robyn Ferrar / 20.03.2007

A late night was spent piecing together the route on the 20 maps given to the teams and tying it up with the information in the route book. The teams finally went to bed hoping they had it all figured out. Let’s hope they have as there were some puzzled faces among the non-Spanish speaking teams during the briefing. It is never easy to communicate in a second language. At one point, the teams with the English route books were especially relieved when they discovered that they didn’t have to dismantle their bikes before crossing one of the main roads... dismounting them would suffice.
Unlucky No. 6
D-day dawned crisp and sunny and, before too long, the teams had stowed their kit behind the hotel ready for their 1st transition. This would see them back in the familiar grounds but this time unable to avail themselves of the facilities. Supplierpipeline were not very cheerful as their kit still had not arrived despite being told it had landed in Madrid at 3pm the day before!!
As if that weren’t enough, they also had their maps screwed up and thrown in the bin by an overly-efficient waiter when they left them unattended for a couple of minutes. They managed to salvage them but their positive outlook was being sorely tested.See All Event Posts
