Teams 4-10 are Neck and Neck
Karen Lundgren / 28.03.2007

Ten teams arrived at TA3 in San Vicente. The weather is changing incredibly fast, turning HOT and Dry. The teams starting this big bike ride in the early morning hours will be riding a big, exposed hill climb in the heat of the day. It's going to dry them out after yesterday's paddle.Team Hype had a tough time with the navigation from CP6 to CP9 wondering "how did all the other teams find that secret road while we were bush whacking..." But that didn't dampen their spirits they know they are still in the race.
Team Walking with Giants was gathered around their gear box as one team member handed out cards that his wife had prepared to inspire him and his team. They read the quotes to each other and had a good laugh as they seemed to bring each of the quotes to life out on the course.
Tom Taylor of Team Stride shared a nice scrape and shiner on his leg from the kayak section when he flipped his boat and his team attempted a rescue. "They only ran over me once," he said. "Oh, and the scrapes aren't from them running over me, those are from some rocks," as Tom bragged about his scrapes.
Team Wild Burros! was having a little nap and enjoying the warmth before moving on.
Donato from Team Dirty Avocados had a message for his friends at home "you know we'll get more coverage when we're leading the race."
Many other messages and thanks to those of you watching the sleepmonsters coverage. "Tell my wife, sister, mom, dad, best friend, dog that I'm doing great. It's the hardest thing I've ever done, but I'm loving every minute of it."
Heading toward the Sierra's. Hoping to get a few more reports and updates in before the teams head into the canyon section.
Keep the emails coming.
