The Few, the Proud, the Ranked

Just in from some of the more remote mountains of Baja.

Day 3 is underway and racing is going spectacularly well. 18 teams are still on course and conditions have turned to the premium sun and warmth we\'ve been waiting for.

All 18 teams have made it to the Sierra San Pedro Martir Mountains, and the front of the pack is diving into the much anticipated GIANT canyoneering section.

Most nerves have settled from the epic day 1 on the pacific.

Daniel of team Barely Legal states \"I will say to my dying day that we rode and fought 25\' waves for 5 hours\". This is the captain of the team that just may be the story of the race. More on this later.

The tales from the 50km section are hardly believable. But they are true, this writer was there and it will go down in history as something special.

Cyril of Team Dart NUUN has led his team in a flawless race, with nearly a 6 hour lead going into the canyon. The team was good in the ocean with only 1 capsize event, and otherwise are just having the flawless expedition race long awaited by Team Dart NUUN of Pacific Northwest.

The well represented northern California contingency are going strong and loving the event.

The meat of the course is ahead, the Canyon Esperanza. It is 2000 meters of full blown canyoneering. Teams will have many independent rappels, swims and down climbing. The stories just might rival those of the ocean section.

This report is the very best the organization can do at this time, with more info by close of the day. This place is remote, and the usual challenges facing a writer are compounded with nearly zero internet in the small towns.See All Event Posts
