Like a Tortoise

Information is coming in like a desert tortuous on its last leg, but we are glad to be getting anything.

It’s a roasty warm spring break morning, and the breeze has kicked up on the Sea of Cortez.
Team Helly Hanson reports to have had a very good experience in the canyon, once they found the ‘top of the world’ checkpoint. A seemingly benign 8 km canyon walk up turned into a 12 hour escapade. Once in the Canyon Esperanza, the decent was fast and smooth for them.

Kayak Lake Mead, 2nd place ranked team has improved their navigation and making their way down to the desert. They passed Helly Hanson on the approach to the top. Brianna was reported to be having foot problems, but still smiling.

Unranked Team Exodus, led by the young phenom Ryan Ognibane of southern California navigated to the mountains well, and was descending the canyon with out problems. They were sighted by Helly Hanson as very fatigued and sleep deprived, but 80% down the canyon nonetheless. Coming off the canyon, they will rally and run in the mid day heat. It’s likely they will reach the Sea of Cortez for some cooling down on the 14 km paddle to the finish.

Leader board has been updated. More reports will come as soon possible.
