Florida Coast to Coast Adventure Race
Start and Finish Announced for the Florida Coast to Coast
Greg Yetter / 25.04.2007

Adventurous Concepts has announced the cities for the start and finish of this year’s edition of the Florida Coast to Coast Adventure Race. The race this year will start on the Atlantic Coast in the city of St. Augustine with the finish to be in the village of Steinhatchee on the Gulf Coast. Elias Jimenez and Dennis Godber have chosen to move the race to the north of the state so to give returning racers an entirely new course. This year’s race will include the AR staples of trail running/trekking, orienteering, mountain biking and paddling. As an added challenge the twisted team of Elias and Dennis have added a rope traverse, in FLORIDA. The course is expected to be nearly 280 miles from start to finish. Competitors will run/trek for 35-55 miles, bike for 160-180 miles and paddle for 50-70 miles. Bear in mind these distances are not exact and teams who have navigation trouble can cover a lot more ground, sometimes the same ground a few times.
The fun will begin on Thursday, 24 with registration, gear check and pre race meeting. Friday, the racers will start their odyssey at 0600 (subject to change). The race will end on Monday, 28, at 1400 (subject to start). The only good bet on the order of events is the race will begin and end with a paddle.
The race committee is still looking for volunteers for the race. Come out for the race or just a day. It is a great way to be introduced to adventure racing and have a great time.
For this year’s race all reports will be posted in both English and Spanish, a first for SleepMonsters.us. Follow the action as it unfolds on the leaderboard provided by SleepMonsters and updated by race staff. See All Event Posts
