The 4th Reunion d\'Aventures Event
Prologue
14.05.2007

Saturday 12th May 2007; Masks, tubas, flippers, some neoprene wet suits and even a few surfing boards were used as fifty four swimmers left the Saint-Leu surfing centre to compete in the water prologue of the fourth edition of Réunion d’Aventures. Two competitors per team took part, with the third providing assistance and acting as a reserve to change places with either of the swimmers.
Their aim was to swim out and back one thousand six hundred meters. At the halfway point the swimmers had to free-dive, one to a depth of six meters, the other to nine meters, and bring back a control plate to the race boat.
The strongest at this game were Laurent Saison and Jacky Verbrugghe from team Cap Opale 2, completing the course in a calm sea in thirteen minutes exactly. Less than two minutes behind, came Aigles Seybelles ESF, Caisse d\'Epargne and Cap Opale -1 . By placing both their teams in the first five this morning, the athletes from the Pas-de-Calais department made an important psychological point.
The majority (17 teams) arrived within six minutes and the last closed the group more than twenty-four minutes behind the leader. Each control plate earned the team a 6 or 9-minutes bonus, depending on whether it had been brought up from 6 or 9 meters. This will be deducted at a specific point in the course, when each team is penalized for the time difference separating them from prologue winners Cap Opale -2.
