Florida Coast to Coast is set for a 0600 start on Friday morning

Teams arrived in St. Augustine Beach today to begin Pre-race check in for the C2C. At noon the registration room was opened for teams to complete the race registration, get their gear checked and show their proficiency with climbing gear and kayaks. Teams had a beautiful day to enjoy after all the mandatory steps were completed. Florida weather being what it is, the early evening brought out the rain clouds and we were graced with about 30 minutes of rain. Not that anyone was complaining. This area is in need of some steady gentle showers to help fight the raging wildfires and bring the river levels up to normal.Teams from as far away as Canada, Team Tool, and Michigan have descended on St. Augustine to race in this year’s C2C. This year we have soloist, two person, 4 person and one relay team in the mix. The relay category is a fantastic way for racers with little experience to participate in a multi-day race without all the hardships. For all you corporate types, this is a great team building exercise. One team for each department or a team for the entire company. You can switch out racers at the TA’s, so each person can compete in their strongest discipline.
Pre race registration was from 1200 to 1800 with a mandatory team meeting at 2000 followed by a support crew meeting at 2045. Teams were given the maps and passport for the first sections of the race up to Transition Area 4. At TA4 teams will be given the next set of maps and instructions. The wildfires have crossed some of the firebreaks and forced a course change for the race. The distances covered are virtually unchanged, just the areas utilized have changed. The changes have forced the race to add in some paved road biking, but the race management has kept this to a minimum.See All Event Posts
