Team Nafod, a soloist, has withdrawn from the race due to medical reason. He came into TA 4 and was done with the race. Most teams made the most of the transition to take on food and more water. This time out for re-supply did not help all teams as at least one returned to the TA for water after have been out on course for 2 hrs. The race staff was shuttling water out to teams between TA 4 and TA 5. Teams are arriving at TA 5 looking beat and worse for the wear. The temps were hovering around 85 degrees in the shade during the heat of the day but with little relief from the sun teams were sweltering during the trek.

Race medical staff is staying at TA 5 until all teams are in, accounted for, and check out if the team request or medical deems it necessary. Due to the length that teams have taken on this trekking section race officials have deleted two check points from the next section, a bike leg. Teams will ride to TA 6 board their kayaks and paddle the river in the dark. While this is usually straight forward on an easy river like the Sewanee River, low water levels have exposed numerous new sand bars, which add a new hazard to this night time paddle.

Team OAGear/Hammer Nutrition would like to send out thanks to their sponsors OA Gear.com and Hammer Nutrition, as well as all their families and friends. Speaking of Team OAGear/Hammer Nutrition they just rode into TA 6 at 2030 Saturday. They made short work of this last bike leg and look strong going into their kayaks.
