The 2007 Adventure Race World Championship
Teams Trickle Through the Tyrolean
Robyn Ferrar / 29.05.2007

After a freezing night spent on their bikes, the teams welcomed the slight rise in temperature that morning brings, even though it has turned wet and miserable. The leading teams made it through the tyrolean in darkness, during which time the Scottish rain came home and promptly put it’s feet up on the Highlands after a long absence. Thankfully, it waited until the wind had blown away.Race Rage
The tyrolean is strung across an idyllic gorge, in which the River Affric rages white over the boulders down below. The midges are out in force and it is getting decidedly sticky underfoot. Those coming through the tyrolean today are generally in good shape. Most managed to get some sleep at T2 and are making steady progress through an “awesome bike route.
However, Team Superfeet / Life is Good have had a tough time through the night. They were confronted by a furious landowner, according to John Laughlin, which delayed them for some time before they felt able to move on. And, perhaps as a result of their delay, two of their number became hypothermic so another stop was needed to get everyone warm. Whilst still recovering from their night-time ordeal, they managed smiles all round and enjoyed the distraction offered by the crossing.See All Event Posts
