The 2007 Adventure Race World Championship
Badger Falls into Loch Ness
Robyn Ferrar / 29.05.2007

By around 4pm, another five soggy teams had enjoyed crossing the impressive gorge. Some (Cotswoldsoutdoors, Planetfear and Irish AR Denny) chose not to hang around, which is not surprising being hot on each others heels. The short course is fast becoming a much bigger, and far more complicated, race than the long one.Next through were South Africans, McCain Adventure Addicts. They were looking tired but still smiling and chirpy. As soon as Jeanette Walder spotted Phil Humphreys, who had arrived to see how teams were getting on, she said, “Phil, this is great but next time you must make the jump bigger. The team gladly accepted the Red Bull, saying how they had been falling asleep on their bikes.

Even more full of beans than the South Africans, were the next team through – Fudugazi Canada. They kept us all entertained with their banter and enthusiastic good humour. When Sven Pederson came flying across practically upside down, they gave him a big cheer and announced to the rest of us “he only would have enjoyed that more if he’d been naked!
It was obvious to all how much they were enjoying themselves. They gave Phil glowing reports about a fabulous course and seemed genuinely impressed by Scotland’s unspoiled beauty. Katrina Rosen went so far as to say “This is the most beautiful race I’ve ever done! It seems Scotland will have four new ambassadors back in Canada when they get back home.See All Event Posts
