A first for Bulgaria

There is less than one month to the start of the first-of-its-kind adventure race in Bulgaria, XVentureRace - Bulgaria.

More than 40 teams from across Europe will participate in this ultimate challenge, which will take place July 19-22. The competition will challenge the will and physical hardiness of the racers, who will cover more than 300 km of rugged terrain, ascending to altitudes of up to 3000 m and pushing the limits far beyond what seems possible.

The competitors will have a maximum of 80 hours to reach the finish line, passing through one of the most rugged mountain areas in Bulgaria and climbing the highest summit in the Balkans. Strong will, the great power of endurance and survival skills will be of vital importance for getting over the hindrances in the harsh conditions of the contest.

The route
Bulgaria, with its towering mountains, beautiful nature and the great number of historical sights offers a lot of routes, perfect for competitions of that type.

For the first edition of XVentureRace, the XV team has traced a route through the toughest terrains in Rila – the Rodope mountain massif. The start line will be set in the heart of the Rodope mountain, sacred for the ancient Thracians, and the end will be somewhere among the lofty peaks and crystal clear glacial lakes of the highest mountain on the Balkans peninsula. The route is kept secret to eliminate the potentiality of illegal assistance and preliminarily preparation of the contestants.

Competitors will get instructions and a map for each stage of the race at the check points through which they must pass.

Disciplines
Trekking, rock climbing, fixed ropes descending, rafting, mountain biking, orienteering, swimming and survival in the severe conditions of the mountains are just a small part of the skills that the competitors must have to complete XVentureRace - Bulgaria.See All Event Posts
