A New Concept

Teams are now gathering in the resort of Morzine for the first Saab Salomon MountainX Race, and speculating on how the new format will work in the week of Alpine multi-sport competition that lies ahead.

Although this race has the same organisers and sponsors, and many of the same teams taking part, it shouldn’t be confused with the previous Raid World Championships. This race has a new and unique concept, and is perhaps best described as ‘endurance multi-sport’.

The race is for teams of 3 (mixed, male or female) and they will race head to head over a different single discipline course at a new location each day. After finishing they will drive to the next location and camp each night. Alongside the main daily activity there will be a shorter trail run (every day except Tuesday), which also forms part of the competition.

The schedule is as follows:

Monday – Morzine/Les Gets
Technical verifications & first Trail Run (8km, 575m ascent)
