Chasing Round London

30.07.2007See All Event Posts Follow Event
London was turned into an adventure playground on Saturday as 200 competitors from the City Chase dispersed across the City. Armed only with a bottle of water, a tube map and 15 cryptic clues to solve, ‘chasers’ set off to find ten of the secretly located ChasePoints hidden in iconic parts of the capital.

To conquer this 4-6 hour urban obstacle course, chasers raced across the city (in teams of two) on foot, train, bus and tube to find themselves faced with a mental, physical or fun challenge at each location. Comfort zones were pushed and team work was vital.

Competitors found themselves bungee trampolining at West India Quay, canoeing in the Docklands, sharing a metre length liquorice string with members of the public on the Southbank, being waxed in the City and giving something back to the community in Lambeth by marking out a 60m track for this year’s Street Athletics at Lilian Baylis Old School.

Winners of City Chase London, 2007 were Neill Northrop and Matt Crane from Sheffield, who completed their adventure in a staggering three hrs six minutes - over half an hour before any other team.

Matt said; “What a fantastic day. We planned our route strategy well and pushed ourselves hard in order to complete the 10 necessary ChasePoints as quickly as we could. We were determined to win so that we could represent the UK in the City Chase Worlds Championships in Rome. The variety of challenges pushed us physically and mentally but it was a lot of fun and was certainly a day to remember.

Neil and Matt will join City Chase winners from Australia, Portugal, France, Spain, Singapore, USA, Canada and Hong Kong to battle it out in the 2007 World Championships, 27-30 September in Rome.See All Event Posts
