Kayak Lake Mead\'s Summer Night Race
Team Sole Wins
Briana A. Finlay / 30.07.2007

All the teams stepped up to tell us about their night’s adventures and to receive their Kayak Lake Mead Adventure Racing coffee cups. And the top three teams glowed as they received their shinny new Ay Up Lights!!
Paul, Karen, and Marcell of Team Sole completed the course for first place in 12hr 19min. "The course was creative and adventurous, the real deal," says Karen and Paul.
Marcell of New Zealand said, "Bootleg was the most intense and radical mountain biking I have ever done in any AR".
Dan Winder, Anna Shuffler and Frank Lowery of Diablos de la Noche tied for Second Place with Team Red Energy. The Diablos “loved it and first timer Anna, wasn’t sure about AR at the finish, but somehow, we know she’s “hooked!
Tommy Kelly of Team Red Energy wrote, “This race was the most memorable one for me to date. You guys really outdid yourselves with how much you packed into a 16hour race. It will be a long time before I forget how cool it was swimming in Lake Mead in the middle of the night with the full moon shining off the water. It's the experiences like this and your ability to design a course with a true adventure in mind that will keep us coming back for more.
The four-person team Burculian arrived at the finish line in for Third Place. Team members, Grandfather and former major league baseball pitcher Walt Walters and son-in-law Mike Stanley who had participated in our 24 hour race, the Desert Winds, stated, “you put on a race and we’ll be there, were accompanied by first time racers Steve Teran and former Miss Galaxy Fitness, Cynthia Hill-Teran. This newbie team has their wits about them and shows up to race early and fully prepared!!
We are extremely proud of all our racers! Thank you for sharing our passion for AR.
