7 Cerros Medellin Urban Adventure Race
The Swedes are not afraid of the hills
Jacqueline Windh / 20.09.2007

Swedish team Lundhags Adventure are the only international team that has not competed here before – but that does not unnerve this youthful and energetic team. Martina Höök says that they are ready for both the steepness of the terrain and the altitude. She is especially looking forward to the skating and is hoping for some uphills, and to seeing the Colombian teams skate – one of Colombia’s strongest sporting events.Last year, World Champion inline skater Andrés Botero, who hails from MedellÃn, chose this race (individual category) as his final competition before retiring. And this year, Women’s World Champion skater Carolina Uteque, also from Colombia, will be competing as an individual.
The opening ceremony took place this evening at the Parque Ajedréz, and the 32 teams in the adventure race category received preliminary information of what to expect tomorrow: we all meet back at the Parque Ajedréz at 5:30 am and teams will have 45 minutes to copy CP locations on to their own maps. Then we board the buses for a long uphill ride to the start line for the first section, which will be a fast and crazy descent on special go-karts that are unique to Colombia (4 people to a cart). And that’s all the info we have for now...See All Event Posts
