SleepMonsters do not have one of our regular international race reporters at Ecomotion, but we will do our best to provide coverage with the help of some friends, competitors and our Brazilian Editor, Wladimir Togumi. If news is a bit sketchy please bear with us!

The race is in and around a beautiful place called Buzios, some 150km north of Rio de Janeiro, on the coast. The start will be a 200 km bus ride from the race HQ and what we\'re guessing is the finish at Buzios, where that is, we don\'t know.

We understand the countryside is very rough, hilly and hot (33°C on average this past week). We\'ll be trekking (running where ever possible), mountain biking, kayaking, abseiling and sleeping (probably a generous 2 hours per night) for 4 or 5 days to get ourselves across the finish line.

There are a number of well performed teams that are expected to challenge for the victory. Watch out for Merrell (4 Kiwis), SOLE (US based - with the mad Kiwi/German Marcel Hagener), Bjurfors (Swedish), Buff-Coolmax (Spain), Wilsa Helly Hansen (France) and a whole host of Brazilian and other South American teams we know little to nothing about. We\'re team number 32.See All Event Posts
