Ecomotion Briefing
Stuart Lynch / Team Orion Health / 21.10.2007

SleepMonsters do not have one of our regular international race reporters at Ecomotion, but we will do our best to provide coverage with the help of some friends, competitors and our Brazilian Editor, Wladimir Togumi. If news is a bit sketchy please bear with us!This report is courtesy of New Zealand’s Team Orion Health: www.orionadventure.com
Lots of lights, music and cheering.
The briefing is in Portuguese but we have headsets through which we can hear a translator.
10:15pm; So far we have had a greeting from a Merlin character dancing about the stage.
10:20pm; Speeches from various important people welcoming us to the race: Ecomotion is a carbon-nuetral adventure race. Trees will be planted to account for the carbon emissions of putting on the race.
10:25pm; There will be a competition for the support crews. Each crew will be given a Motorola phone on which to video the race. The three best videos will win the phones. Also the phones can be used as they wish, calling emailing etc - perhaps that will solve our phone email problems.
10:30pm; A competition involving a large beach ball - The 6th person to catch the ball wins a pair of shoes from Timberland. Wayne uses his height to his advantage to win this one. May have to give them away though seeing as we have great shoes already from New Balance!
10:35pm; A drums performance by local performers.
10:50pm; Geoff Hunt (Adventure racing world championships) is giving his speech endorsing the race.
11:00pm; Video from last year’s Ecomotion showing the winning team (Sole), followed by Paul Romero of team sole giving his thoughts and expectations for the race ahead.See All Event Posts
