Lead Teams Have Started the \'Surprise\'

Things are still pretty tight at the front of the race with Buff losing a little time to WHH on the trek leg and Orion doing the same which was a real shame as they could have taken time out of WHH as well as Buff if a bit of a nav error hadn\'t ocurred. They were somewhat flat in TA as the error was still a bit fresh but they got away ok after having a good feed and a change of clothes.
Apparently one of the Buff guys was limping a bit but they were obviously still in a hurry and making pretty good speed. They left TA with a 2hr 20min lead over WHH and 4hr 45min lead over Orion. We didn\'t actually see Buff as they had been and gone and their crew were just packing the last few items into their truck when we pulled in.
The team took off with paddles in hand for a trek of about 7km to the inflatable kayaks. They made great time down the river and surprised us when we weren\'t quite ready for them! They were 30min faster than Buff and WHH who had taken 4 hours for that section.
We were a wee bit slow getting them away for the surprise section ... 17 km pushing, pulling or otherwise transporting \"trolleys\" along an old abandoned railway line.
Buff had been and gone after a compulsory hour in TA and WHH were on their way. We were lucky to have a great dry but dirty area to set up the TA in as it has pretty much rained continuously all day.
WHH came into TA all sitting jammed on their trolley with 2 of the team scooting them along. They were gatting on at a great pace but weren\'t too happy for some reason when they finished ... ?
They transitioned and were out of TA right on the hour after getting a little sleep.See All Event Posts
