Summer Storm Rolls into Ocean View
Geocentric Outdoors - Press Release / 20.03.2008

Titled the ‘Summer Storm’ this race was held in a brand new location on a stunning property with views to the coast and the Glass House Mountains. The event was fast and furious as teams raced neck and neck around the action packed course. The unique format of the race saw tackle an unfinishable course. All teams had to race non-stop for 2 hours and who ever managed to get the furthest on the course was the winner. Course designer Nicole Briscoe calculated things to perfection with the 1st team getting all but 3 of the checkpoints.
The race started at a frantic pace as teams sprinted on foot to collect two checkpoints in either order. It was then onto the mountain bikes for a short ride before a cross country foot navigation and a swim for one team member.
After completing this, teams then returned to their bikes for a fast downhill descent to the infamous dam. At this point the strain was beginning to show as the teams swam, ran and swam again. On approaching the dam some hurled themselves head long into the water while others could manage only a flop. In what became the crux of the race, teams swam then had to haul themselves hand over hand up a series of ropes to get out of the water. Between shouts of “This is the best thing ever to “I am never doing a race again all teams managed to make it up the steep bank and had a grin on their faces at the top.
