The North Face 100
Pre - Race, Prelude to a BIG DAY out.

I have to admit to never doing a 100km “run or walk even, 50 trek would probably be the longest, so last weekend I decided to checkout some of the course for The North Face 100. This was prompted by an avid racer friend who has been raving about it, and rightly so as he has already been out on the course numerous times, and every time we spoke he would get a dose of verbal diahorrea. So the only way to find out what “Pedro (not his real name) was talking about was to check it out for myself.I met one of my race mates at Glenbrook in the lower blue mountains, we left his car and headed for Leura, a short detour had us at Echo Point looking in awe at the view, having lived in Sydney for near 30years and visited the mountains many times I hadn’t seen it like this.(see photo)
It wasn’t long and we found ourselves running down one of several descents in the Jameson Valley, first thought was how many damn stairs are there, oh yeah and how small are the steps, my size 13s are twice the size of each step, Well at least the landing if I fell was going to be OK, though I knew Pete infront of me was a touch nervous. Soon we were onto the Federal Pass track, the track undulated and had us passing below The Three Sisters, and it wasn\'t long and we found ourselves passing the old mine workings surrounding the Scenic Railway, and some massive prehistoric turpentine trees.
