Day 3: DART-nuun are just as hungry as their buddies

Day 3, 6:00 pm

DART-nuun are doing their best to catch up with the lead team DART-nuun/NW Kayaks.

“But time is running out, Cyril noted quietly. His team made up another 30 minutes this section (20 minutes on the 60 km bike leg, and another 10 minutes by going for a super-fast transition), leaving them now only two and a half hours behind their rivals. If the course were a bit longer, they’d almost surely catch them - but there is not much course left.

“We know they haven’t slept, added Jen. “And we have.

Cyril was dismayed at how short this bike section was – since that is his team’s strongest discipline – and even more dismayed when he found out that the final bike section is being shortened too (because of the change in the kayak put-in due to winds).

Someone passed a message along to Jen that her mom had been asking RD Karen Lundgren how Jen was doing. “Oh, I’ve told her not to phone race directors! she exclaimed. (Message to Mrs. Segger: Don’t worry, Jen’s looking great, smiling, eating lots!)See All Event Posts
