Baja Travesia 2008
Day 4: And another tight race as Bosi Colombia and Dancing Pandas fight for fifth.

Day 4, midnightStill hanging out at the hot springs to see who was coming through, I saw Bosi come in a few minutes after 7:00 pm. We have no news at the CP, deep in a river valley and out of radio reception, so I asked them if any other teams were close to them, and they said no, we won’t be seeing anyone in for hours.
What we didn’t know was tht Dancing Pandas arrived into the CP literally seconds behind Bosi, and were doing there transition just a hundred or so metres downstream. So while Bosi had a slow and easy transition, eating lots of good food, thinking they were under no threat to maintain fifth place, another team was just doing the same. I never even saw the Pandas.
Both teams got on their bikes at the same time, and suddenly the race was on! What I hear from the front is that the Pandas made it to the kayak launch a half-hour before Bosi, but there was some pretty good surf going even there, at the supposedly protected place, and they spent half an hour discussing whether they would even launch at all, or simply stop here. Then Bosi rocked up, and launched, so Pandas did as well. In the final timing, Bosi beat the Pandas to the finish by one minute – these teams taking fifth and sixth place.See All Event Posts
