Baja Travesia 2008
With the arrival of teams Equinox and El Rey Azul to Ensenada...

Day 6Sorry for the delay in getting the final news out – I’ve spent the last 24 hours travelling.
With most of the teams already in to Ensenada, the awards ceremony and party was moved forward from Saturday to Friday night – allowing people to travel across the busy Mexico/USA border on Saturday rather than at the end of the weekend.
Team Equinox biked straight to the finish at Hotel Corona just as the awards ceremony was ending, to a cheering crowd, arriving in at 10:22 pm.
El Rey Azul was still out on the course – we were baffled by their SPOT readings, that showed that they still were not out of the canyon! It turns out that they had stopped at the hot springs further up the canyon, above the San Carlos hot springs where the TA was, for a little break. There were people there (the land-owners, I believe) who fed them and then, when Melissa crashed out on the ground for a nap, they offered them beds for the night! So they took a good little break there on the way in, and rode into Ensenada at 7:00 am.
The wrap-up party and awards ceremony was great – without exception, all teams were thrilled with this year’s course. Baja Travesia veterans all called it the toughest course yet. See All Event Posts
