Tri X Lysterfield Race 1
Off road action heats up.
Andrew O’Loughlin / 31.03.2008

Adventure Racing stars Jarad Kolhar and Deanna Blegg were victorious, although Kohlar was pushed hard by top triathlete Matthew McDonough and Ironman Sam Hume, with just over a minute separating the three.Blegg’s victory over the female field was more comprehensive, demonstrating the form which secured her the Australian Adventure Racing Championship at Lorne in December.
The warm conditions attracted a strong field, both in talent and numbers and the growth in popularity of the off road triathlon format looks set to continue. Lysterfield Park again provided the ideal venue, with the lake swim providing some cool respite before competitors took on the challenges of the Commonwealth Games mountain biking course, and the surrounding trails during the bike and run sections of the race.
Local 15 year old Sekove Koroisamanun provided a glimpse of the future with a fine performance in crossing the line in 22nd overall.
The series continues with the Victorian Off Road triathlon Championship event at Anglesea on April 13, then the X series moves to the infamous You Yang’s X duo duathlon on May 25.
