Icebug24
Ready to Rogaine in Northern Sweden
Jan Eriksson / 02.08.2008

[The Icebug24 is one of very few Rogaines in Western Europe and takes place from Hemavan, on the edge of the Arctic Circle in Northern Sweden.]The start is just a few hours away and around 50 teams are preparing themselves for the race. The weather is splendid and is supposed to stay that way.
Last years winners in Icebug 24, FJS, with Johan Hasselmark and Daniel Hansson, traveled about 100 miles in mountain terrain under 24 hrs. Johan and Daniel will be challenged this year by their teammates from FJS, Niklas Levinson and Martin Sahlmén, and several other strong teams in the mens class.
The mixed class seems fairly open with ten teams racing for the victory. The women’s class have only one team racing, Dalåives FF, with Moa Larsson and Linnea Olofsson.
Icebug 24 will gather around 35 teams in all, ten more teams than last year. Around 20 teams will start in Icebug Mountain Marathon and these teams will race around 12 miles per day.
Even though most teams are from Sweden, some teams from Estonia and the United Kingdom will race in Icebug 24. Bolton Wanderers, Ahmed Mohammad and Shahid Mohammad, raced last year and have returned to take on the mountains again. Somnambulists, Andrew Butler and Will Clive, are preparing themselves for their first appearance in the race.
Icebug 24 will start at 2pm and the teams must finish 24 hrs later at the Inn in Hemavan.See All Event Posts
