The Race is Underway
Jan Eriksson / 02.08.2008

Today, Friday, was the start of Icebug 24 and Icebug MM. The latter race is a traditional two-day mountain marathon with approx. 12 miles of racing per day. Icebug 24 is a 24 hour rogaine, where each checkpoint is worth a certain amount of points. Hence, the goal of the race is to gather as many points as possible within 24 hrs.The teams in Icebug MM have now finished their first day of racing. The weather has been absolutely splendid and the weather gods have promised us that it'll continue throughout the race.
The team L-G's fanclub, with Örjan Gustafsson and Johan Åhman, were the strongest team in the men’s class. But it was a fight to the bitter end against Team IKSU Multisport/Skogslöparna, Per Liljeholm and Henrik Pilvinge. L-G's fanclub finished 5 min 17 s ahead of IKSU. Tomorrow will indeed be an exciting day … Team Resklara Upplevelseforum finished in third, 16 minutes behind first team.
In the mixed class, Trångsvikens Lena & Micke were the strongest team, and also the third team overall, only eight minutes behind the fastest men’s team. Mountain Madness finished in 2nd place, ten minutes behind, and Team Nord & Syd, 26 minutes behind. The only team in the womens class, IKSU Multisport/Skogslöparna, Tina Jonsson and Malin Pilvinge, finished about an hour behind the first men’s team
At this point we don't know much about Icebug 24, but we have heard that last years winners FJS has made a strong start.See All Event Posts
