FJS wins Icebug 24 (again)!
Jan Eriksson / 07.08.2008

Icebug 24 and The Icebug Mountain Marathon are over for this year. In Icebug 24 the winners in both the men’s and women’s class defended their titles from last year. In the men’s class FJS, with Johan Hasselmark and Daniel Hansson, defended their title against mainly Lifelivers.com, with Henrik Enberg and Arvid Björkrot. FJS were a bit worried during the night, as they didn't take CP 14, which Lifelivers later did. However, Lifelivers weren't able to take all the remaining CP's on the course, turning the tide back to FJS' favour. At the finish line one point and one hour separated the teams – FJS gathered 45 points and Lifelivers 44 points.
The second team from FJS, with Niklas Levinson and Martin Sahlmén, ended up in third place with 41 points.
The winning team in the mixed class, IKSU Multisport/Överkalix, with Andreas Strandh and Kristin Larsson, also defended their title from last year. They ended up with 38 points, also just one point ahead of the second team, AR Team Vaude from Estonia. Karlstad Multisport ended up in third place
with 35 points.
The only team in the women’s class, Dalåives FF, with Moa Larsson and Linnéa Olofsson, ended up with 31 points.
In the Icebug MM the strongest team in the men’s class were L-G's Fanclub, with Örjan Gustafsson and Fredrik Åhman. They extended their lead from day one and ended up 23 minutes ahead of second team, IKSU Multisport/Skogslöparna, with Per Liljeholm and Henrik Pilvinge.
Resklara Upplevelseforum finished third, about 40 minutes behind the winning team. Trångsvikens Lena & Micke, with Lena Gavelin and Mikael Andresson, proved to be really strong in the mixed class, with the second best overall time in the Icebug MM.
Mountain Madness were the second team in the mixed class, about 30 minutes behind and Team Nord & Syd were third, about one hour behind. The only team in the women’s class were IKSU Multisport/Skogslöparna,with Tina Jonsson and Malin Pilvinge.
The new combined race arrangements have been very well received by the racers, both by novices and experienced mountain runners/adventure racers. We from the race staff wants to thank racers, media, audience, and staff for this edition of Icebug 24/MM and welcome you back to Hemavan next year when we hope the weather will be just as it has been this year!
