The Final Twist

The last day of the Raid CanéO Nature had a final twist, when the overnight winds failed to drop, so all the competitors travelled by road to the site of the finish.

At 10:30am teams were sent away on a sea kayak course around the outlying islands. WILSA SPORT HELLY HANSEN took their usual lead on the mainly downwind leg with LES FOUS DE BASSIN TDR BX in second place, HELLY HANSEN UK was fighting for third place but crossed the line 4th, when LES FOUS DE BASSIN TDR BX and MARINE NATIONALE - LATTITUDE 55 took the wrong courses around the islands.

Whilst all this was happening behind them one of the CAP OPALE kayaks capsized and they set off two flares as they were unable to right their boat. Two other teams also capsized during the return to the finish and the Belgium team INTERSPORT LIÈGE lost a front hatch cover and had to keep stopping to bail out the front storage compartment.

At the end of an epic race only 6 teams completed the full \'Extreme\' course and these were:

1. Wilsa Sport Helly Hansen - 123.37.21
2. Columbia LSN - 130.27.44
3. Vaucluse Aventure - 139.14.33
4. Wilsa Cup CHTI Raid - 142.32.03
5. Absolue Raid Decathlon - 145.12.50
6. Helly Hansen UK - 148.53.13
