The 4th annual Tropical Power Coast 2 Coast is set to begin tomorrow (October 18) on the island of Trinidad. Richard and Elina Ussher are back to defend their titles against a field of racers from the US, Mexico, Sweden, Venezuela, France, New Zealand and some of the island's own."We are excited to have such a great field of athletes for this year's event," stated Ryan Mendes (Coast to Coast Race Director). "Our number of particpants is up 100% from four year's ago when we began this event.
The Tropical Power Coast to Coast event is a two-day stage race consisting of cycling, trail running and paddling. Over the 2 days, racers will cover approximately 100km on bikes, over 40km on foot and 30km of paddling off the coast of the island. The course is a set course in that it is the same every year. The race starts in Toco (along the island's northeast coast) and ends at Williams Bay in Chauaramas (on the northwest coast).
When asked why they chose to come participate in the event in Trinidad, Kip Koelsch responded, "We met Ryan (C2C race director) several years ago at one of our events (WeCeFAR)in south Florida. He kept encouraging us to come to Trinidad to partipate in the Coast to Coast event. We do not race as much as we used to ...so the location has to be special to draw us there." He added, "Trinidad is a fabulous venue for an event and who wouldn't want to travel to the Caribbean to race."
The race starts tomorrow morning in Toco. We will be providing updated race reports at the end of each day.See All Event Posts
