After a big weekend at the Australian Land Rover G4 Selections Rob Preston of the NSW Stingers had a few days to recoup before flying to Brazil.

Rob will be racing with US team Merrell/Zanafel, captained by Robin Benincasa, they should have a strong team, but the field of 60 international teams will make it one of the toughest races in several years.

Rob arrived on monday after enduring 32hrs flying via Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Santiago, Rio de Janiero and finally Fortaleza. Rob was pretty happy as his bag and bike arrived safely and he had made all his flight connections.

After catching up with Orion from NZ and hearing a few horror stories Rob has been cautious, one of the boys nearly had his bike nicked from under him.

The teams left Fortaleza tomorrow morning (wednesday), with a 6hr bus ride further north west along the coast to a very small town called Jericoacoara. The town is famous for windsurfing and kitesurfing and looks really cool. there are no road, and only 4wd through sand dunes to get there. They have a couple of days getting organised, and then another bus to the start then kick off on 2nd Nov, lets hope there is no kayaking (unless they have sails) first up.

Keep an eye on the race website and here for regular updates. See All Event Posts
