Held on Brisbane’s north side at Murrenbong Scout Camp 200 adventurous Triathletes took up the challenge. 14 competitors lined up beside Mark “Marto� Martin for the start of the Open Category in what was always going to be a hotly contested race. Ben Holland was first out of the water with a flying 4:48 for the Swim with 3 others coming in sub 5 minutes for the 350m Swim. Nina Wright led the Female category out of the Swim with a lead that she would not give up for the whole race. Nicholas Dougall and Bryn Somers were hot on Ben’s heels as the first group hit the bikes with Marto 6th out of the water and in the chasing pack.
The pace on the bikes was fast with 8 of the top 10 rides on the day coming from the Open Category, Jeff Toohey clawed back a huge amount of time with a storming 29:53 for the 10km MTB leg the only person to ride sub 30 minutes and would have been first into T1 if he hadn’t liked the course so much and started off on a third lap!
