TietoEnator Adventure Open Noric Adventure Championship 2009
Cold Water and a Tight Race
Anders Burman / 22.05.2009

After a fast start on land, ONAC continued on the water, or in the water to be more accurate for some paddlers. Those who prioritised speed before stability in their choice of kayaks had a really tough journey. Team Herkules from the coast town of Gothenburg were one of the few teams that managed the rough conditions effectively. Others did swim a lot in the cold water, loosing power and time for nothing.
This also streched the field. At TA 2 Herkules left with a safe lead. \'Mountain Loghome\' were close, but since they where using K2-kayaks they will have time penalties.
\"We have had a good paddle and are feeling strong,\" said Gunnar Hallneus from Herkules.
The second Herkules team also put in a strong performance on the water so when the sunny first day turns to a cold dark night Gothenburg rules in Karlstad.
After the long MTB and trekking stage during the night Herkules are still the ones to catch. Johan Bergman, the team support commented, \" The team has done this before. We are not as fast as the Finnish team so we try to keep a steady pace and make less mistakes.\"
During the trekking stage to SS4 Team Finland got closer and closer to the lead, but going out of SS5 Gunnar Hallneus was still optimistic.
\"We have had a night with few mistakes and we are trying to our best to keep all other teams behind us,\" he said.
All teams are still on the course but \'Mountain Loghome\' and \'IKSU Syd\' continue with just with three team members. See All Event Posts
