Day 4/5 - Adios and Goodnight

The first teams crossed the finish line yesterday afternoon, with a couple of changes to the leaderboard.

No team was going to come close to Multisport.Fi, who completed the late stages (skating trekking, kayaking orienteering and a last ropes activity) at a super quick rate, breaking the tape at 2:30pm. They were rightfully proud of their win, having held the lead for the vast majority of the race.

The surprise came in the shape of the second place, a team who had been almost written off the podium when they ‘blew’ during the first MTB stage. Sweden’s Team Explore fought back from fifth place up to second in a little over 24hrs, moving at a blistering pace over the skating and trekking stages, passing both McCain Adventure Addicts and Vibram Sport2000. They had trekked briefly with both, but, in the words of McCain’s Graham Bird, “moved past us like we were standing still�

Finishing at 6:30pm, they broke out the champagne in the square at Aquilar de Campoo, then left for the Hotel Valentin, food, and a well deserved rest.See All Event Posts
