Bimbache Extrem 2010 will be the next AR World Championships

Geoff Hunt, director of the AR World Series, confirmed the news at the closing ceremony of the 2009 edition of Bimbache Extrem. For one week next year, the landscape of Castilla y Léon will be the world capital of adventure racing.

The raid Bimbache Extrem Castilla y Léon closed last week in Aguilar de Campoo following four days of high adventure in the region of Léon y Palencia - with a prize-giving ceremony for the 2009 winners but, at the same time, with the sound of a starting gun for 2010. The director of the AR World Series, New Zealander Goeff Hunt, confirmed that this Spanish race will host the AR World Championships next year - the most important international race for the sport of AR.

“I’ve been following the Bimbache all week, and I have been able to see first-hand the great work that Antonio de la Rosa and his organization have done, assured Hunt, who added that “the countryside of Castila y Léon is marvelous, and the source design was magnificent. And, on top, the international racers who took part in the race have been telling me really great things about it.

As a result, Geoff Hunt and Antonio de la Rosa have signed an agreement that Spain’s Bimbache Extrem will host the 2010 AR World Championship. “We have one year to confirm the routes, and the exact dates - and we will be working hard so that the world will be able to see the most spectacular landscapes that Castilla y Léon has to ofer, said Antonio de la Rosa. “And of course, our aim is to put together an event that meets the highest international standards in every respect, he added.
