TransPortugal Garmin Bike Race
The Final Count Down
Louize Hill / 28.05.2009

It is less than a week until the 7th edition of the TransPortugal Garmin starts. In the coming days the racers will be arriving in Lisbon from all over the world. This year we have 70 racers coming from 12 countries, from as far away as China, Russia or Trinidade as well as several racers racers from the US and Canada and from several European countries. Top country is Portugal with 21 athletes, followed by USA with 12 athletes and Belgium with 10 athletes. It is great to have people from several new countries – the reputation of the race is spreading across borders, and clearly has a firm footing in others, such as Belgium where 8 members from a single team have all signed up (but given the nature of the race, will all be competing individually)... We have seen before what the Belgians can do, will these guys be as fast as Pepe and Domie who were here last year and the year before?
This year has more women racing than in any previous year – there will be 11 women taking part, of which only 2 (Sandra Correia from Portugal and Kim Bear from the US) have raced before. We welcome them all to the TransPortugal Garmin. See All Event Posts
