<b>11.25</b> Both the A and B class winners have now arrived. The A class winners were Douglas Tullie and John Rocke and they set an incredibly fast time ... so fast I missed them at the finish and didn't have a chance to speak to them. However, they were filmed and interviewed on the webcam.

In the B class there was a real battle today between the top two pairs, 3 of who are Swedish orienteers. The winners were Matt Winn-Smith and Martin Asp, who had started the day 5 minutes 30 seconds behind Christian Karlson and Jonas Ljungberg, but managed to open up a strong lead in the later part of the day.

"We were caught by a pair who started 30 seconds before the first CP," Asp said, "but we got away and caught the leaders by taking a different line to CP3. Then we passed them but made a mistake at 5 so they caught us again and we ran together all the way to CP7. We were tracking them, but they didn't like that and in any case we had planned on a fast finish as we felt we were stronger, so that is what we did."

The pair met when Asp was working in London and tried their first OMM last year, finishing day one on the C course despite the weather and the cancellation. Then they ran the 70Km (elite) BAMM in Sweden earlier this year. "That was tougher than this," said Winn Smith, but it was an elite course so we took a step down here. Still, it was hard enough and now we have to do the A class next time!"See All Event Posts
