Race 2 of the 2009/10 season kicked off in South East Queensland on a hot October morning with nearly 250 competitors lining up for the national Salomon Tre-X Off-road Triathlon Series.

With the Teaser Race opening the day the young guns were out to show us all how it was done and what a great show they put on for everyone over the 150m Swim, 4km MTB and 1.2km Trail Run.

Line honours went to 12 year old Max Rose in an amazing 22:11 which put Max at the top of the Teaser leader board with the fastest time of the day in both the under 15s & over 15s. And for the girls, 12 year old Megan Williams had the fastest time in 26:05. These two young guns are certainly going to be a force to be reckoned with when they reach their teens and start moving into the longer course, so look out everyone!

The Teaser course finished with huge cheers from all those waiting to start the long course and brought the whole field home in a blaze of glory.

As the Teaser finished up our attentions turned to the 350/10/4 long and short course event. It was always going to be a hard fought race as the day warmed up and so did the competitors at the starting gun.

In the Open category Nic Dougall flew through the swim in 4:19 to take an early lead into T1 with the fastest swim of the day. Onto the MTB and into the first 5km lap Ian Martin was in second and Rob Symmons returning after a few years away form the Salomon Tre-X Series was in third. Nina Wright led the female open race into T1 with a swim of 6:16, and Emily Neville clocked the fastest swim of the day for the females in 5:24.
