The photographer who waited all day at the last dam crossing has come back tot he hotel confirming the Spot information Blackheart.com.au has passed the dam on Lake Morris.Another report from alpine epic.co.nz has Blackheart in the street of cairns - albeit the suburbs.
Without following the Spot the time of arrival here is still just a estimate.
We all sit working a little, waiting on the phone call from down the street. The last checkpoint at this phone booth requires hat the team rings the HQ. This will give everyone a few minutes warning to get the bubbly out of the fridge and down to the finish line which set up pool at the Rydges Hotel.
In the tradition of XPD a couch is set up (in this case four deck chairs) where the winners, and in fact every team across the line have a chance to sit in their glory and relax - enjoy a quiet chat to the media, a beer or champagne, before retiring to their rooms to refresh themselves after a long 6 days plus of racing.
